ABOUT
ABOUT ME
EDUCATION

My early interest in babies and young children inspired my work with children and families in a variety of environments in the United States and in Central and South America.  Through these experiences in preschools, children’s homes, and children’s hospitals, I had the opportunity to witness how family relationships, life changes, medical trauma, racism, and stressful living environments shape a child’s development. These experiences, coupled with my commitment to social and racial justice, launched me into my career as an Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist.

Working directly with children inevitably elicits more curiosity about the grown-ups who care for them, and I have become increasingly interested in the emotional lives of adults.  I am particularly focused on how early experiences impact how we relate to ourselves and those we love.  While these experiences often feel remote, perhaps even irrelevant at times, they tend to guide our decisions and choices.  Developing an understanding of this groundwork can be linked to present-day struggles in an attempt to connect and perhaps reconcile the old with the new.

Over the past several years, I have provided clinical supervision to Masters Level clinicians. My warmth, non-judgmental approach, and sense of humor have been assets in both teaching and clinical practice.
